Employee Preferences with effective / expiration dates

Employees should be able to have start and end dates for their schedule availability. Without this changes like the start of a new semester are hard to incorporate.

    Jon,

Thanks for your comments. I entered this idea after hearing similar needs from other clients. Kim was in support mode and responded to an email she received as a voter on the idea.

We agree the current workaround is not optimal which is why we are looking for feedback on this idea. What you provided is great!

    Kim,

That isnt true.  Have you ever worked in a grocery store? Restaurant?  Any business with a high employee count of PT employees?

Availability changes weekly.  It isnt UPTO either.  If someone cant work because of X there isnt an easy way to do it through the schedule (which it should).  We use UPTO right now as a work around, but that also requires someone to approve the UPTO request.

Putting an end date would solve this and make it simple.

It sounds like they should be using UPTO or vacation since preferences are for recurring weekly events and are not meant to be changed weekly. Preferences do have a start date they can set for the preferences to be effective.

    Yes

Scenario: Employees are trying to put in weekly preferences which may change. For example next week they do not want to work on Friday but the following week they can. The current portal shows "repeat every x" so the preference is repeating every whatever.

How can they put in a preference for a given week? The start date calendar is not editable. I was thinking they could simply change the week and start it every whatever week but it is not editable.
