The purpose of this idea is to add additional functionality to the Coverage Viewer screen in TimeSimplicity when the company has elected to schedule lunches.
Often times if a company is scheduling lunches, they're doing so to make sure they have a consistent number of bodied staffing the needs of their business even after accounting for the employees who will be away from their posts on a lunch break during part of the workday.
TimeSimplicity does offer the user the ability to schedule in a lunch on the Scheduler screen if the company is configured to have lunches scheduled by the scheduler. When this is the case, on the Coverage Viewer screen, the time the lunch is scheduled for displays as an empty box and properly reduces the body count for the corresponding position.
Sometimes multiple employees will be scheduled for their lunch at the same time and, if they actually took their lunches all at once, it would yield inadequate staffing levels for the company. In these cases, the lunch times have to be staggered for the employees so that a steady number of bodies is staffing the department.
In order to stagger the lunches as needed, on the Coverage Viewer screen the user should be able to just move the time the lunch is scheduled for an employee to facilitate adequate staffing levels but not change the actual start and stop times of the shift. However, right now if you try to move just the lunch break of a shift on the Coverage Viewer screen, the entire shift moves, not just the lunch, causing the user to have to go back to the Scheduler screen and manually edit the lunch and then return to the Coverage Viewer screen to see the revised body count.
Allowing users to modify both the entire shift length AND/OR just the start and end time of the lunch break for an employee using the Coverage Viewer screen would make this a more invaluable tool and facilitate schedulers achieving the body counts that they want at any given time much more intuitively and with much more ease than they currently can. Thank you for any/all consideration!
