Initial Employee Password Setup

I don’t want to create a bunch of employee passwords that are just reset by employees, since this is a waste of time.

Is there a report that can be ran and sent to clients with logins and passwords? Would make life much easier! Also if the forced reset pswd can be made optional- that would be so helpful!

I think a great way to automate the ESS password assignments while allowing the accountant and client to retain some control over what the passwords will be is to implement a processing rule called "EssPasswordSchema" and be able to define how the default passwords should be created.

The screen would be something like:

    Default Password Setup

To setup a default password schema, choose any one (1) data field you want to
incorporate into the password and then define and additional text you want to
add to the left or right of the data field's value to comprise a password.

    Data Field:
    [] Employee Code
    [] First Name
    [] Last Name
    [] First Initial Last Initial
    [] Logins/Number 1
    [] Logins/Number 2
    [] Logins/Number 3

    Add text:
    ___________________________
    to the
[] Left of the Data Field
[] Right of the Data Field

    For example, I'm employee #1000, my name is John Doe, and my Login/Numbers are (1) 1000, (2) jdoe, and (3) john.doe .

    • If I chose data field "Employee Code" and wanted to add the text "Temp" to the left, my default password would be Temp1000 .
    • If I chose data field "First Initial Last Initial" and wanted to add the text "ChangeMe" to the right, my default password would be JDChangeMe .
    • If I chose data field "Login/Number 2" and wanted to add the text "0000" to the right, my default password would be jdoe0000 .

The system would auto-assign the default password the first time the employee was added to TWP only.  It should be visible to the clients and supervisors with Employee Setup permissions enabled because it was automatically generated and is only a temporary password.

Once the employee logs in and changes the password to one that they choose, the password should no longer be visible to clients or supervisors.

While not imperative to the idea's functionality, if deemed beneficial, to facilitate faster password resets consider adding a [Reset Password to Default] action button to the Employee Setup screen that automatically resets the employee's password to what it should be based on the EssPasswordSchema rule, exempt that default password from the security parameter that prevents the last eight (8) passwords from being reused, and automatically e-mail the employee (if there is an e-mail on file) a confirmation that their password has been reset and what their temporary password is

Thanks for any and all consideration!

We have clients who want to set a password for their employees and does not want their employees to have to change their password upon their first login.  Can this be made optional per company?  Unbelievably there are still many people out there that are not comfortable with electronics so this just adds to the stress.
